Go to hell, SAMHSA, and take yo mama, CCA, GEO, and Wackenhut with you. Get yo funk out of my face!
Sad news: The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has prison investors who do not want mentally ill Americans to have the four provisions below:
(a) Medicaid insurance for psychiatric inpatients
(b) AOT programs, providing food, housing, and mandated psychiatric care
(c) Crisis intervention training for police officers and prison guards to reduce violence against mentally ill people
(d) Family members who know about their treatment and can advocate for them, presently blocked by HIPPA.
H.R.3717 "Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act" would approve the changes above. SAMHSA claims to be against H.R.3717 because it fears civil rights violations, but in fact, SAMHSA fears profit losses for private prison owners who want to continue denying treatment to people with serious mental illness who are too sick to even know they need help. SAMHSA wants to preserve the worst cases untreated in order to relegate our sick people to prisons or the graveyard. We have 1.25 million mentally ill prisoners because EVERYBODY KNOWS MOST PRISON INVESTORS WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT, SAMHSA.
Please excuse the title of this article, but it is time for somebody to be as riled up about helping mentally ill people as they are about Bundy's cows and Michael Vick's dogs.
Show us some people who SAMHSA helped when they were arrested for mental illness. Show us some families SAMHSA helped get justice when their sick loved ones were shot in the street by untrained police officers or murdered behind bars, SAMHSA. Hypocrites are paid YOUR tax money to prevent treatment to the very people who they receive $3.6 BILLION of your money annually to help. We have 1.25 million people with mental illness behind bars, and SAMHSA pays YOUR tax money to prevent treatment. Can you believe it?
Did you know the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration gave grants (YOUR money) to an organization that denies that mental illness exists? Did you know that SAMHSA gave another grant (YOUR money) to an organization called "Dance Your Way to Mental Health"? Did anybody tell Kelly Thomas to dance his way to mental health? Did anybody tell Sen. Deeds' son to dance and be well? Should the people in Aurora Theater have invited their killer to dance?
Where is SAMHSA when mentally ill and retarded people are on death row? Did they even write a letter for the condemned mentally challenged people? Where is SAMHSA when killings of unarmed mentally ill people by police officers on steroids are pronounced "justified"? Where was SAMHSA when my own brother was secretly arrested and killed in Memphis Shelby County Jail after 18 days of secret incarceration, and the government refuses to release documents regarding his arrest and exactly how they killed him?
SAMHSA diverts money from mental hospitals and community care programs, and gives YOUR tax money to completely useless organizations in order to create more and more mental health crises that endanger communities and increase the $75 billion annual prison debt by arresting sick people. GET YO FUNK OUT MY FACE, SAMHSA. Tell your administrators it is time to cash in their prison stock, because we will pass H.R.3717 - Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act. People with serious mental illness will finally get the help they need to stay out of prison.

Hear a mother discuss her son's need for an AOT program on "Human Rights Demand." Paul Castaway, who is presently imprisoned in a Denver jail, has been brutalized by police officers, correctional officers, and gang members in his community, yet he does not stay on his psychiatric medications once he is released from a correctional facility. His mother spoke of her dread of someday getting a call in the middle of the night announcing Paul Castaway's death. "The Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act" is a matter of life and death for Paul Castaway and other people with serious mental illness who cannot recognize their own need for continuous treatment.
